<\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Radda in Chianti<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>, along with Gaiole<\/span><\/a> and Castellina<\/span><\/a>, was one of the three founding towns of the Chianti league and is to this day located on a ridge between the Val d’Arbia and the Val di Pesa<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a>, within the Chianti Classico wine zone, surrounded on all sides by cypress forests and vineyards. Radda is of mediaeval origin and considerable parts of the old town walls remain.<\/p>\n

Radda in Chianti<\/span><\/a> has a 15 C town hall, the Palazzo del Podest\u00e0<\/strong>, with an interesting facade, and a number of other features worth a look, including the Church of San Nicol\u00f2<\/strong>, the nearby Franciscan Convent of Santa Maria in Prato<\/strong>, which houses a polyptich by Neri di Bicci (1474), and the mediaeval Pieve of Santa Maria Novella<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. Radda serves as a grocery shopping centre for the wineries and agriturismi in the Chianti hills around about. It also has several restaurants, making it a good place to stop for lunch when touring the Chianti castles.<\/p>\n
