The Abbazia di Sant’Antimo (Abbey of Sant’Antimo)<\/strong><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In fact there are abbeys (abbazie<\/em>), basilicas (basiliche<\/em>), monasteries (monasteri<\/em>), hermitages (eremi<\/em>) and parish churches (pievi<\/em>) in every corner of Tuscany, many of them of great architectural beauty and interest, and often in wonderful locations. One or two, such as the Abbey of San Galgano<\/span><\/a><\/b><\/span><\/span>, are ruins, but most are very well-preserved and often fulfilling their religious purposes to this day. Gregorian Chant<\/b> used to be heard several times a day at Sant’Antimo<\/span><\/a><\/b><\/span><\/span> but for this experience you must now visit San Miniato al Monte<\/u><\/strong><\/a> on the outskirts of Florence. Some monasteries offer accommodation. The beautiful Abbazia di Sant’Antimo (Abbey of Sant’Antimo) near Montalcino<\/strong><\/span><\/a> should not be missed if you are visiting the Val d’Orcia<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in Tuscany.<\/p>\n

In my opinion, for history and architecture enthusiasts, the most underrate sight in Tuscany is the Abbey of Santa Mustiola<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, located near Torri in the Val di Merse<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. This is the only romanesque cloister in all of Tuscany and one of the most beautiful cloisters anywhere.<\/p>\n
