It has always been a market place but only in the past few hundred years has it developed as a town. Greve is now probably the most popular centre for holiday-makers staying in the Chianti Classico region. Both the town and the county of Greve are the largest in Chianti, and the surrounding hills offer a considerable range of country accommodation, while apartments and B&amp;B rooms are available within Greve itself. Wine rates high in interest both for the Grevigiani and visitors, there are many restaurants both in town and in the country nearby, restaurant prices being significantly lower outside Greve. Ceramics and Tuscan country-style furniture and fittings are available in speciality shops.
