The Abbey is extremely photogenic from almost any angle with its walls and towers emerging from the dense cypress forest that surrounds it.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2362\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2362\" style=\"width: 450px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chianti.info\/chianti\/\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/badiaapassignano.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2362\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chianti.info\/chianti\/\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/badiaapassignano-450x297.jpg\" alt=\"Abbey of Badia a Passignano\" width=\"450\" height=\"297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chianti.info\/chianti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/badiaapassignano-450x297.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.chianti.info\/chianti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/badiaapassignano-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.chianti.info\/chianti\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/badiaapassignano.jpg 770w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2362\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #cc3300;\"><strong>The Abbey of Badia a Passignano<\/strong><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Badia a Passignano was founded in 1049 as a consequence of the <span style=\"color: #3399ff;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.badia-a-passignano.com\/vallombrosans_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3399ff;\">Vallombrosan<\/span><\/a><\/b><\/span> monastic reforms and consists of a more or less square fortified monastic complex with corner towers. Towards the middle of the 15 C, the Abbey was augmented by the addition of cloisters and a wall. The vineyards surrounding the Badia a Passignano were bought by Antinori, one of the big names in <span style=\"color: #3399ff;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chianticlassico.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3399ff;\">Chianti Classico wine<\/span><\/a><\/b><\/span> production, in 1987 and Antinori have leased the Abbey cellars for use in aging their wines. <i>La Bottega<\/i> and <i>L&#8217;Osteria<\/i> are an Antinori wine outlet and restaurant respectively and are located very near the gate of the Badia a Passignano.\u00a0 It is possible to visit Badia a Passignano at 3 pm on the last Sunday of the month if a monk is available to act as guide. However, phone the abbey to check this timing.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #cc3300;\">Worth a visit.
