It flows rapidly down through the forested hills in an easterly direction and then forms a flat flood plain between Panzano and Greve, the Piano di Montagliari. This flat area continues as the river turns north, and the market place of <a title=\"Greve in Chianti\" href=\"https:\/\/www.greve-in-chianti.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3399ff;\"><strong>Greve in Chianti<\/strong><\/span><\/a> itself is built on this plain while the more modern houses of Greve extend up the slopes of the valley on either side. One of these, the <em><strong>Borro Becherale<\/strong><\/em>, psses through a tunnel under part of Greve just before it joins the river. Here it narrows to run through another gorge, the Scopeti, to arrives at <span style=\"color: #3399ff;\"><a title=\"Tavarnuzze\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tavarnuzze.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #3399ff;\"><strong>Tavarnuzze<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> from where it opens into the valley and receives the waters of the <strong>Ema stream<\/strong>, between the <span style=\"color: #3399ff;\"><a title=\"Certosa of Galluzzo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abbeys-of-tuscany.com\/certosa_galluzzo.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #3399ff;\"><strong>Certosa Galluzzo<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> and the village of the same name. The Greve then passes through Scandicci and joins the Arno in the Florentine suburb of Mantignano (Bagno a Ripoli).
