This region is the <a title=\"Historical Chianti\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chianti-chianti.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">historical &#8220;Chianti&#8221;<\/span><\/a>, previously a recognised political entity but now simply the name of a part of Tuscany and home of Chianti Classico wine. However, there are in fact several other <a title=\"Chianti DOCG\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chianti-chianti.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3399ff;\"><strong>Chianti DOC and DOCG wine zones<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, sometimes overlapping one another, throughout central Tuscany:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Colli Fiorentini <\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #3399ff;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuscanwinetours.net\/chianticollisenesi.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #3399ff; text-decoration: underline;\">Colli Senesi<\/span><\/a> <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Colli Aretini <\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Colline Pisane <\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Montalbano <\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #3399ff;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montespertoli.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #3399ff; text-decoration: underline;\">Montespertoli<\/span><\/a><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #3399ff;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.val-di-sieve.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #3399ff; text-decoration: underline;\">R\u00f9fina<\/span><\/a><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of these subzones label their wines \u201c<em>Chianti<\/em>\u201d with the specific DOCG in smaller letters below. Chianti Classico wine bottles must bear the <em>gallo nero<\/em> logo and a numerical registration which guarantees authenticity (except in the USA where use of the black rooster is prohibited). In former times, other grapes, including white grapes, were used and the results were not all that good.
